A feeling of coming home

Paul van Gulick Vera Baranova His contacts with musicians in Krasnoyarsk in the 1990s inspired Paul immensely. His way of composing was greatly influenced by the talks he had with excellent Russian musicians such as Ivan Shpiller, Anatoly Chepurnoy, Vera Baranova, Tatiana Korotkova, Sveta Voytkevich, Igor Fleisher and Dima and Tanya Kodoch. He had a sense of coming home, after all kinds of wanderings, and Paul suddenly knew which direction he had to take and what his music should sound like. Melody, harmony and emotion took a natural place within his compositions.
The works mentioned here are the result of this awareness and mark an important period of his life.

Invitation Ukraine

Honorable invitation

Paul van Gulick conducted his compositions in Chernigov on invitation of the Dutch Embassy in Kiev. The invitation was an initiative by conductor Mikola Sukach and his Academic Philharmonic Symphony orchestra. Paul has performed his Requiem, Divertimento, Paradisal Journeys and the first part out of his Oratorio "Apocalypse of Angers" (first performance) with great success.
