Paul van Gulick came into contact with the professional soloist ensemble 'Blahovist' from Kiev through his friend Henk Sprenkels. Husband and wife team Leontiy and Tatiana Kumanovskiy performed his "Paradisal Journeys" – a work based on the Divina Comedia by Dante – with Blahovist in Kiev. They also introduced Paul to the composers union of Kiev, through which he has met some important composers from the Ukraine. They participated at the performance in Kiev of his Stabat Mater. On his request, the ensemble made a CD-recording of his 'Paradisal Journeys' in 2008.

In 2008 Paul composed three choral songs on poems by Rilke (Tanagra, Der Panther and Spanische Tänzerin) and dedicated it to Tatiana and Leontiy.
