In 1997 Paul van Gulick made a composition based on a poem by Elisabeth Eybers. The poem features the statue by Michelangelo which depicts the silent grief of Mary. This is the reason why the soprano soloist has got an important role in this composition. In 1997 the work was premièred by the Residentiekoor. The composition has been recorded on CD by the same choir and with Hanke de Hoogh as soprano soloist. The composition is dedicated to his wife Kitty van Buul.
