Because of a fortuitous encounter of Carla Rabbers and her husband Lammert (both member of the JeroenBoschkoor) in Switzerland, Paul van Gulick was introduced to Gay Corran. Gay organizes music festivals in the South of England. During a visit to her beautiful house in Lulworth Paul met Kath and John Tilling, the conductor David Truslove and the composer and conductor John Holloway. These contacts resulted in a collaboration between the Residentiekoor and The Romsey Choral Society, of which David is conductor. Both choirs performed the "Deutsches Requiem" of Johannes Brahms in The Hague under Paul's direction.
He composed this Canzone in celebration of David's 50th birthday.
