Page 1 of 2 A composition for choir based on selected texts from Dante's Divina Commedia, with poems by Annemarie Estor and illustrations by Anne van Buul The idea for the ‘Paradisal Journeys’ dates from long ago. Dante’s Divina Commedia has intrigued me since my adolescence. The idea of a journey in search of the answer to the question about the meaning of life was very appealing to me. I was determined to do something with those texts. How this was to be done, however, wasn’t yet very clear to me.
Professor Giuseppe Mazzotta from the Yale University wrote regarding this collaboration between Annemarie Estor and Paul van Gulick: ‘A gorgeous project. In my long career as a teacher of Dante in America, I have not seen such a creative, brilliant conversation of the arts -- poetry and music -- as I see now.’
